The Days of the Week can be somewhat confusing to English speakers because they require you to ignore the English division between Time and Space.  In Potawatomi, the line between Time and Space is somewhat fuzzy, and in some cases is non-existent.

GISHEK means Day or Sky (and several other things.)

GISHGEK is a Locative.  In Potawatomi you can mark a place in time much in the same way you mark a place on a map.  It's a different way of thinking about time.

Égi nemégishgek ngi wabma o nene        I saw that man this past Sunday.

In the example above, gishgek marks a point in time.

GISHGET is a Verb ending.  In Potawatomi, nouns can become verbs and verbs can become nouns.  The prefixes and suffixes determine everything.

Ngotgishget ngom        It is Monday today.

In the example above, ngotgishget is a verb meaning "It is Monday."
