In 1978, a major contingent of Native peoples walked from San Francisco to Washington DC to protest the treatment of Native American peoples in the United States and indigenous peoples around the world.
Next February, the 30th anniversary of The Longest Walk will be commemorated with The Longest Walk II. The event will take place from February 11, 2008 to July 11, 2008.
